Selection

Draft from a text selection

Highlight text on a page, open Reachly, pick a purpose, and generate a scored draft from your profile — the same Selection workspace shown in the popup.

Open this page

A non-platform tab with at least 80 characters highlighted

What you get

  • Selection draft studio in the popup header
  • Purpose chips (cover letter, reply, bid, and more)
  • Fit score, matched skills, edit, revise, and copy

When Selection opens

Reachly opens Selection when you are signed in, the active tab is not a first-class platform, and the highlighted text is long enough.

  1. 1Stay off Freelancer, Upwork, Guru, LinkedIn, and Reddit — those tabs open their own workspaces instead.
  2. 2Stay off detected job listings (Indeed, LinkedIn Jobs, Greenhouse, and similar). Those open Job details.
  3. 3Highlight at least 80 characters on the page. A title or one short sentence is usually too short.
  4. 4Keep that tab focused and click the Reachly icon. The header shows Selection with a “From this tab” label.

Typical Selection tabs: Gmail or Outlook on the web, Notion, Google Docs, newsletters, chat briefs, and company pages that are not a job listing URL.

Gmail is not its own Reachly platform. Highlight the thread or job text, then open the extension.

Generate a draft

  1. 1Confirm the popup shows your highlighted text under Draft studio. If you see “No text selected”, highlight again and tap Retry.
  2. 2Pick a purpose chip. Changing purpose clears the current draft so the next generate matches the new intent.
  3. 3Tap Generate. You get a fit score, matched skills, and a draft written from your resume.
  4. 4Edit in the popup, or use Revise with a short instruction. Copy, then paste where you will send it.

The character counter defaults to 1,500 (same default as Freelancer). Generate and revise each use one AI credit.

Purposes

  • Cover letter — application letter from a pasted or highlighted role description.
  • Job application — fuller application copy for the selected listing text.
  • Reply — a response to the selected message or thread.
  • Proposal / bid — a freelance bid when you are not on Freelancer, Upwork, or Guru.
  • Follow-up — a short nudge after earlier outreach.
  • Cold email — outbound mail from the selected context.

If Selection does not appear

  • The highlight is under 80 characters — select the full paragraph or job body.
  • You clicked the extension on LinkedIn, Reddit, Freelancer, Upwork, or Guru — those sites always open their own studio.
  • The URL looks like a job listing, so Job details opened instead. Analyse there (no credit), or copy the description to another page if you need Selection.
  • You are not signed in, or the profile has no resume yet.
